When Opportunities Don’t Knock, Create One Yourself
Somewhere early this year, I had this aha moment… tapi lawak sikit sebab only now I really feel it.
After bertahun-tahun kerja dekat company sekarang, I told myself, Okay Faz, it’s time to open for new opportunities. I mean kan, dengan bertahun pengalaman kerja, surely resume I akan stand out? Tapi… reality check — nope❌
Email rejection je memanjang. Standard script: "At this time, we’ve decided not to move forward with your application."
Memula tu I memang rasa down gila. Macam, “Why? Am I not good enough? Salah ke apa yang I buat selama ni?”
Then ada satu interview ni — final stage okay, bukan main-main. The interviewer said something yang betul-betul stuck in my head:
Lepas tu dia bagi nasihat — upskill, explore new skills yang boleh contribute to any role. And the best part… “While waiting for an opportunity, why not create one?”
Create one.
Not just waiting. Not just wanting wishing. Create your opportunity.
The Week I Hit Pause
Last week, I ambik cuti seminggu. Bukan untuk travel atau binge Netflix, tapi untuk reassess my life.
Serius, brainstorming (atau mindstorming — entah apa nama dia 
) memang penat.
Lepas banyak scribble dekat notebook and too much coffee, satu idea keep coming back:
Tak semestinya kerja full-time 9-to-5, tapi multiple income streams — freelancing, digital product business, projek-projek kecil. Memang risky, of course commitment sentiasa kejar I dari belakang 
. Tapi hati rasa… nak try jugak.
Step 1: Digital Product Business (Kerja Dari Rumah)
Kalau you pernah baca my post 10 “Side Income” Kerja Dari Rumah Tanpa Modal Besar (read here), you tahu I dah lama curious benda ni.
Baru-baru ni, I habis baca ebook Duit Canva — memang buka mata. The author cerita macam mana dia buat sales besar dalam 48 jam guna Canva. Tapi yang buat I terkesan bukan sales tu, tapi idea-idea kreatif yang dia share memang semua boleh buat even dengan free version.
That’s when I decided: Why not me?
Sekarang, I tengah work with my creative partner untuk buat business ni jadi. Tengah plan design, susun strategi, and figure out apa yang orang nak supaya boleh konsisten berbisnes.
Step 2: Virtual Assistant (VA) Malaysia
Yang ni bukan 100% baru. I pernah buat small VA jobs before. Tapi lepas jumpa TikTok video ni (watch here) — a retiree jadi virtual assistant Malaysia, terus rasa… If she can, why can’t I?
I beli ebook Rahsia VA, memang sesuai untuk beginner yang nak tahu step-by-step. Sekarang I tengah build portfolio guna projek-projek lama untuk tunjuk skill.
Of course, I’m realistic — I know the road won’t be as smooth as some YouTube success stories make it sound. Tapi I follow juga channel The Virtual Savvy untuk belajar cara buat VA business yang sustainable.
What’s Next?
Honestly, I tak ada semua jawapan lagi. Timeline pun tak fix. Tapi satu benda I tahu is I’m moving, I’m creating, I’m learning.
